Personal History

Born William McQuinn to a pair of settlers on Yutari Alpha Prime, Ran grew up surrounded by security personnel. This shaped the direction he wanted to take, and when Yutari Alpha Prime had established itself to the point where corporations began to set down outposts, McQuinn decided to apply in a security capacity. He made a name for himself in short order, establishing his reputation as an officer without peer. AEGIS Corporation eventually contracted him to head up their fledgling Presidium Protective Services division. As an effort to distinguish themselves from the competition, and to enhance their image as a corporation and McQuinn's personal image, they agreed to pay for hybridization and augmentation surgery, transforming McQuinn from an above-average human into the image of a dragon from lore. These augmentations are not merely cosmetic - they permit several benefits above and beyond image. Following the operation, McQuinn elected to take a name from the mythology of those whose form he now shared, re-christening himself Ranaghan Sarnorbarra.

After his rehabilitation, Ran was ordered to the SSV Razorwing, a pan-discipline science vessel, to serve as its executive officer under fellow PPS soldier David Blackstone, as well as its security chief. Since, he has entered into a relationship with the Lurk quartermaster Mercury.
