AEGIS Corporation
AEGIS Corporation came around somewhere in the early 32nd century. They established their name as a very respectable business, and stayed that way for many years. To this day, most of their practices are praised by government officials, and they control a large chunk of the Milky Way galaxy's economy, as well as have their hand in economies across the stars. Over the years, they've acquired numerous other corporations and companies and put them under the AEGIS 'shield' (along with a sizable grant to improve the company). A job with AEGIS is one that you'll likely have guaranteed for the rest of your life.
Presidium Protective Services
Presidium Protective Services started off as a simple PMC, but quickly made a name for themselves when several members acted as a counter-terrorism unit and managed to respond and subdue a situation faster than the actual police. They continued on, many members being offered jobs on police task forces, but the majority declines. PPS ended up becoming one of the best organic security services the universe had seen, and as they grew, they essentially became an army. When AEGIS picked them up, their weaponry drastically improved, as well as the quality of their armor with the AEGIS grant, leading to heightened mission successes.
Hyperion Research
Hyperion Research was small and mostly overlooked through many years. They managed to keep in business, but never had any mindblowing discoveries. AEGIS simply saw a sturdy, well-organized company, and took it under it's wing. With the AEGIS grant, Hyperion flourished, being able to afford newer labs, and their productivity increased. They began inventing odd and unorthodox products and items that confused the public at first, but quickly ended up becoming incredibly popular. Weapons that Hyperion Research put out were hailed as some of the best that money could buy, and AEGIS made sure that the quality was always up to standard by supplying a constant flow of money to the ideas that would earn Hyperion a bigger name.
Damascus Robotics
Damascus Robotics initially refused AEGIS' buyout, as they were one of the first companies to be added to the AEGIS umbrella, and were about the same level - not wanting to risk potential failure. However, after a few companies flourished in their years with AEGIS, Damascus reopened offers and quickly joined. They began collaborating with the other companies to assist in production of whatever was necessary at the time, and when PPS and Hyperion were picked up, were given further funding to revamp PPS' armament, and improve Hyperion's laboratories.
Pulsar Medical
Pulsar Medical began as a series of intergalactic research hospitals that were the leading force behind multiple groundbreaking discoveries. AEGIS bought out this conglomerate with little to no resistance from its owners. The Hospitals and research facilities continued to operate and expand with very few changes to the norm. The one major exception was that all research now belonged to AEGIS, making the company one of the largest medical development companies in the 'Verse Notable cures include the Triangulum Necrosis, Haemotoxus Superior, and Augoblastoma (a rare cancer that develop in cybernetic and bio-augmented patients).
Aesir Intelligent Defense
Aesir is a droid-run company that originated when the droids originally started colonizing the Circuit System. They specialize in security systems that have smart-AIs that help protect assets of single people to huge corporations. Their most well known accomplishment is their A-140 Sentry Camera. A camera with a light machine gun attached that has found it's way into most companies. Their slogan is "Sometimes, you just need a little AID in life."
Actomus Industries
Actomus Industries was founded by Gallick Actomus, who brought forth the AI001 Battleship Tank - a heavily armored, slow-moving behemoth that would "deploy" as cover for footsoldiers, and be able to give impressive firepower. With a grant in hand, they supplied the fledgling Presidium Protective Services with 10, and began getting more and more business. When Gallick passed away, his son Ilius inherited the company and began working on more personal weapons, rather than primarily vehicles (as his father had). When Ilius' son Verrik came to the spotlight, Actomus Industries became more and more popular, creating vehicles, field-stims, weapons, and other assorted combat related items. Since Ilius Actomus' wife's tragic death, Verrik has been releasing products under the Actomus Industries umbrella that are less combat focused, and more intent on preserving life. The young company is still one of the top producers of weaponary, despite not being as widespread as others.
