Mariella Corwin

Player:

Daedalize

Name:

Mariella Corwin

Species:

Human (Augmented)

Concept:

Professional courier, pilot-for-hire, and interplanetary delivery girl

Aspects:

Running from Shadows: Mari always tries to be going somewhere. Whether by ship or on foot, she can get from A to B faster than just about anyone. Of course, keep her in one place for too long, and she gets a bit paranoid and jittery, but she's good at getting what she needs and getting out before it gets to be too much.
Keeps The Change: Mari's used to picking up rides wherever she can. Sometimes she pays, sometimes she stows away, sometimes she offers her services as pilot, and on one occasion, she just took the damn ship for herself. She's learned how to get what she wants out of ship security (or get around them if need be), but knowing how many options she has leaves her less than willing to pay up even when she has the cash.
Value Added Features: Mari's had a number of electronic and mechanical augmentations installed. Her left forearm is basically a toolkit, containing a small motor that runs both a miniature powersaw and drill, as well as a number of other items (though this leaves that arm heavier and ). A mindjack allows her to interface with shipboard and other computers (assuming she has compatible translation software). Finally, her joints have been mechanized, allowing her a much greater range of motion and rotation at the cost of increased weight and greatly reduced striking force.

Personal History

Mariella was born and raised on Thest, in one of the domed cities beneath the ocean. A genetic condition necessitated augmentation early in life to correct potentially crippling hormonal imbalances, but the augs had the side-effect of tweaking her emotional development, leaving her to alternate between states of heightened and deadened emotional responses until further augmentations fixed the issue in her mid-teens. Mari's parents were dedicated social climbers, and a certain divide sprung up between them and their socially-awkward daughter, who spent as much time "slumming" as possible to escape their restrictive lifestyle. A part-time job with a delivery service introduced Mariella to the wonders of piloting, which turned out to suit her unattached personality quite well, and she slipped off-world as part of a freighter crew at the tender age of 17, to the embarrassment of her parents, who declared her a runaway and have since sent out feelers with the aim of having her brought home. With no desire to settle down and plenty of impetus to keep moving, Mari spent the next seven years running odd jobs from system to system, with most of her non-necessity spending going towards increasing her augmentation even further.
