Mordecai

Player:

Bouncl

Concept:

Mercenary Meathead with a dubious past

Brief Physical Description:

Mordecai stands over six foot five, and tends to wear either combat webbing or loose, ratty clothes. He is heavily agumented, and rarely seen without his 360-visor, which covers his entire head. What little visible skin he has is covered in scars and tattoos, and he has two extra cybernetic arms below his normal arms. He's Martian, although the heavy clothes and augments make it hard to tell sometimes.

Traits:

  • Man? Or machine?: Mordecai is slowly becoming more machine than man. His auguments and scars making him unreadable, and intimidating. Because of this, he can seem standoffish, and has a hard time forming connections with others.
  • Child of Bowie: Many years of combat have given Mordecai lots of experience in dealing with stress, whether that be reacting under fire or keeping a straight face. He doesn't get upset easily, to say the least.
  • Netizen: An old AI specialist for his unit, or so he claims, Mordecai seems to have a knack for working his way through electronic systems. Whether or not there's truth to this claim is impossible to tell, but he's certainly very good at it.
  • Adoptive Father: Mordecai is very, very protective of Miri. She is more or less his only kin, and definitely his only close relationship. He will do anything to help her, without a second thought.

Merits:

Hidden Life 1

Augments:

  • Combat Link, Rank 2: The implant that allows him to use the 360 visor, granting him a +1 to Firearms, and a +1 to Wits when the visor is on.
  • Cybernetic Arms, rank 3: Two multi-ball jointed cybernetic arms attached below the arm-pit. Immensely strong and agile. +1 to Strength, Firearms, and Weaponry.

Flaw:

  • More machine than man: Mordecai's many augments sometimes give him trouble, breaking down or causing him pain. And although he values the lives of whatever crew he's running with, he tends to view other people as disposable, as obstacles to be broken down or objectives to be conquered.
  • Sensitivity to Electro-Magnet Attacks: The function of augmentations are disrupted when exposed to a sudden burst of electro-magnetic energy. Augments shut down for 1d4-1 (with the lowest result being 1) minutes as a result of EM interference.

Possessions

  • Two single bladed monoedge swords
  • 360-visor
  • Crestel 14A
  • Spare clothes

Personal History

Born to two Martian parents who worked in a chemical factory, Mordecai spent most of his life on the streets, running with gangs. As soon as he was old enough, he enlisted in the military. Mordecai's ruthless outlook put him on a fast track to the Black-Ops units, groups of soldiers willing to do whatever it took to accomplish their objectives. He still wears a lot of tattoos from his time on the streets, and in the military. There have been rumors that his unit had a special sort of… history, but Mordecai never speaks of it, and the past never seems to catch up with him anyway.

He's got something of a father-daughter relationship with the young pilot Miri, in large part because he ended up rescuing her when he decided to burn his contacts with the AEC. Having been summoned to an old AEC research base by some contacts, he quickly decided he needed to sever ties as fast as possible, and ended up rescuing Miri on the way out. As a parting shot, he ended up revealing the base's location to the new government in the area, ensuring

its hasty destruction.
